Creating and Sustaining High Performance

In order to create and sustain high performance an institution’s culture must be aligned and focused on a common purpose. Therefore, this session will address how cultural transformation and alignment can be accomplished through a common mission, shared vision and core behavioral values. At the conclusion of this session the participants will be able to:
- Define what is meant by institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement,
- Recognize how external accreditation is a minimum requirements and not a sign of “benchmark” performance,
- Discuss how alignment and integration impact an institution’s culture and ultimately performance, and
- Understand how the “Cultural Change Model” can be used to integrate an institution’s mission, vision and values into everyday work life.

The 2009 – 2010 academic year set a record for the development of new certificate and degree programs plus rapid growth of online course offerings at College of DuPage. Your colleagues will share lessons learned and best practices for developing new programs and making major curriculum revisions to existing programs. The process for submitting curriculum to the Division Curriculum Committee and the College Curriculum Committee will be reviewed along with practical tips for using CurricUNET and preparing a Form 20 which is required by the Illinois Community College Board.
Developmental Education at COD: It Takes a Village for Student Success

As a follow-up to the Summit on Developmental Education in June, a panel of C.O.D. faculty and staff will share teaching tips and best practices for serving students who test at the Developmental Education (DE) level. This session is for anyone teaching and/or providing support services for DE students enrolled in mathematics, reading, writing, and all other academic disciplines and programs. Participants will have the opportunity to provide input to new strategies and initiatives to enhance what C.O.D. offers to help DE students succeed. Part-time faculty teaching math, reading, and writing courses are invited to attend this session.
Digital Commons@COD: What Is It and How Do I Get Involved?

Gen Ed Assessment: Results of the Pilot & Plans for 2010-2011

Last year, full-time faculty in all disciplines and programs participated in a pilot of mapping and assessing the General Education Outcome of Information Literacy. This session will include results of the pilot, how the process relates to teaching and learning, and upcoming support for developing assessment strategies. Learn the details for how we will continue mapping and assessing General Education Outcomes during the 2010 – 2011 academic year beginning with Critical Thinking in the fall semester. The common elements between Gen Ed Assessment and Academic Program Review will also be highlighted.
All full-time faculty are required to attend this session.
Global Education at C.O.D.: What in the World are We Doing?

The Honors Program 2.0: Introducing the New Honors Course Criteria

In Spring 2010, members of the Faculty Honors Advisory Committee developed new criteria for what constitutes an Honors section of a course. Attend this session led by Committee members and learn about the new criteria which go into effect with the Spring 2011 schedule. An overall update on the Honors Program is also part of this session along with brainstorming ways to promote the Honors Program to new and continuing C.O.D. students.

QIP 11

QIP 11 was formed to improve the overall student experience at COD. The QIP 11 team has been meeting since March 2010 to define and ultimately implement a college-wide system of exemplary student service. We sought and received student input. We have used various Continuous Improvement Tools to evaluate student input, research and best practices to form our unique method of exemplary student service which models mission, vision and values. The QIP 11 team took all of this work and synthesized it into three words. This is where we need your help. We need all staff input to succinctly define each of these three words. We are not starting from scratch. We will bring the work that got us to this point so that attendees can pinpoint the key elements and add things that are missing.
Safety and Service: What the College of DuPage Police Can Do for You.

We also provide laptop computers for short term use, iClickers and Voice Recorders for semester use, easy access for your students to items placed on Reserve, and through Interlibrary Loan we can obtain items not held in the C.O.D. Library. Look for our student aides throughout campus in their green Library shirts!
