Scholarly journals can be found in the article databases. Just look for "Academic Journals" in the search results.
Learning Express Library is a great tool for studying for placement tests. The Library also has videos and books that students can use to study for the Compass tests.
Most books can be checked out for 3 weeks. Information about checkout periods can be found under Borrowing Services on the Library's homepage.
Students can put a book on hold by clicking the Request button next to the item's record or they can put in an
request to get the book from another library.
Most databases can be accessed off-campus/outside of the COD network with a valid COD Library card. To check if a databases is available from outside the COD network, click on the green "I" box next to any database from the Databases by Title page.
General is one of the collection locations in the COD Library, along with collections like Juvenile, College and Career Information Center, New Books, Paperbacks, etc. If a book is in the General collection, it will be shelved on the upper level of the Library and can be checked out for 3 weeks.
COD has reciprocal borrowing agreements with Benedictine University, North Central, Elmhurst and Wheaton Colleges. Students, faculty and staff can apply for borrowing privileges at their libraries.

Most research guides have the name of the subject librarian on them, but a complete list of discipline librarians can be found by clicking For COD Faculty on the Library's homepage, then Library Liaisons.
Do a Keyword search to find books using a phrase. The catalog will search for those words anywhere within the descriptions of the material. When you find a good match, use the Subjects assigned to it to find similar items.
Database articles that are not available in full-text will have a Find This! link which will take the student through the steps to find the article-- either in another database or through interlibrary loan.
Many Research Guides have lists of resources appropriate for specific or general assignments within the subject. The Business/Managment/Marketing research guide has resource lists for many Business class assignments.
The College and Career Information Center in the Library has resources for every aspect of job searching, career planning and the college application/transfer process.
The Literary Topics Research Guide is a great place to start finding literary criticism materials in the Library. It suggests databases and books that students can use for literature research on many topics.

From Google's homepage, click on Advanced Search. At the bottom of this page, you can include a particular domain, such as .gov, or an entire website address. Now your search will be limited to sites with this domain or be limited to a particular website.

Students, faculty and staff can renew books and pay overdue fines by logging into My Library Account with their last name and valid Library card number.
